  1. Wash your hands: We are all tired of hearing this, but one way to keep infections and bacteria away is to remember to wash our hands.
  2. Sleep well: Most adults get fragmented sleep. This happens for so many reasons: some women have to wake up to look after their children. A good night’s rest is recommended to feeling and working at one’s best.
  3. Drink more water: You will most likely experience frequent urination, but the more water you drink, the more your skin glows and radiates. Aim to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Staying hydrated helps your kidneys to function properly and it boosts your performance during exercise.
  4. Lift weights: Gyms were closed in Alberta until recently. If it ever happens again, there is a way out. You have probably found this out yourself: lift weights. You don’t have to go to the gym for this. Make sure you are safe and carry weights that are okay for you. Try not to over do it!
  5. Try reading: Many of us die daily because our minds are not challenged enough. When we keep learning through the books we read, our brains are kept strong. Whether it is cooking a new recipe or trying out TikTok, make it your goal to learn something new every day. 30 minutes of reading a day can reduce the chance of Alzheimer’s disease and keep your brain strong.
  6. Reduce your salt intake: Adults should eat less than six grams of salt per day. Keep an eye on the salt levels in ready meals and avoid using salt at the table.
  7. Look after your eyes: Most things decline after the age of 40! Take frequent breaks if you spend a lot of your day looking at screens.
  8. Try gardening: As the weather gets better, try gardening if you have a garden or if you can get a lot. One hour spent gardening can burn up to 330 calories, release stress hormones and lower your blood pressure.
  9. Get activity: The advise  is to do 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week. Achieve your target by trying an exercise video on YouTube.
  10. Have a sunny disposition: this alone can boost your immune system and lower instances of depression. It can also result in lower blood pressure and improve sleep quality.
